Ciucas peak, May 2014

The fastest way to reach Ciucas Peak is starting from Ciucas Chalet and following the red stripe path. The first landmark we reach is the area called Tigaile Mari, with it’s remarkable stone towers.

Standing between the stone towers of Ciucas, the view is amazing.
Towards the south we can see the Bratocea ridge (a longer access route).

Ciucas peak, at 1954m altitude.

Last view from the main ridge, from here we went down to Tigailor pass, and back to Ciucas chalet.

After descending from the peak, the trail will lead close to another interesting feature – the Goliath Tower.

Here, the trail splits. Ciucas chalet can be reached following the trail marked with the red cross, or, if DN1A road is your destination, the red stripe will take you there over the Bratocea ridge.

Zanoaga glade, December 2012

A nice view of Zanoaga glade on the path from Curmatura chalet to Zarnesti. On this beautiful day we can see both Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountain range.

Vidal Lake, Aug 2011

Part of Calcescu natural reserve, we can find Lake Vidal at the altitude of 1986m. It is part of the water system fueling lake Calcescu, which is only 500m away to the north.

We can reach this lake from Obarsia Lotrului, following the red ribbon mark, until we reach lake Calcescu, and then climb up along the river side. Estimated time of arrival 3.5 – 4.5 h.

Being a natural reserve, we can find animals like bears, wolves, or black goats, so be on a sharp lookout 🙂
